Effects Of Globalization On Business Education And Employment Economics Essay There is a common saying that is being used today that goes The world today is a small village. This is as a result of the many economical, political and technological inventions and changes that have been in place in the recent past that have made improvement in communication, transport, and trade. These advanced technological advances have made it easy for individuals from different locations and regions in the world to invest in different locations in the world and this has resulted to globalization. Globalization is a process where a local society, culture, economy, or practice is integrated to surpass the local boundaries to a point were the local culture and economy reaches the people from other cultural backgrounds that arent from the same cultural background (Schifferes, par.3). These local regional practices are integrated internationally through the improved systems in the communication, transports and trade. These ensure that there is an improved communication, trade and transport mechanism that is the most effective organs that boosts globalization. Globalization has got some effects that accompanies some of the effects of globalization to the society includes positive and negative effects that it has on the economy, political and socio -cultural fields. This paper highlights the ways that globalization has affected the Business field, Education sector and Employment sectors. Employment is one sector amongst the many sectors that are affected by globalization; this sector is affected by globalization in two ways. These are positive and negative ways. In this section we are going to highlight on these effects of globalization in the employment sector beginning with the positive impacts. Globalization has improved the media coverage in the globe; this has led to sensitizing the people and enabled the people to know there rights. It has also lead to the creation of many employment opportunities that are varied. For example, the employment of the media personality, the introduction of the international Non Governmental Organizations (NGO), and other innovative groups that will in some point create the employment opportunities (Tutor2u, par.4). Globalization has resulted to the growth of employment opportunities in the various countries especially in the developing worlds. The most notable multinationals companies that have shifted their production to developing countries includes the Finland multinational company Nokia moving to Asia where there is cheap labour and plenty raw materials thus providing employment opportunities to the locals of the countries (Tutor2u, par.5). Globalization has also improved employment opportunity through the introduction of expatriate employment. These are cases where people are employed in other regions that arent there native and provide expert roles to the companies that they are employed. For example is the way the diplomats are deployed in various countries to represent there countrys interest in the country that they are deployed (Tutor2u, par.4). Globalization has also resulted to the growth of employment, because it has produced equal room for competition among the local and multinational companies. This is for the reason that there is equal room that will ensure that the companys will be in a position of getting a straight market for there products. This will result to the development of companies enhancing competition and the companies will employ the people to work in the industries. For the negative aspects, globalization also renders many people jobless especially in the developed worlds. Consequently, making the people from the developed world jobless; on the other hand, the once in the developing world are employed in these multinational companies (Tutor2u, par.2). Globalization has positively and negative affects the education sector, some ways in which education is positively affected is the by the technological improvements that led to the introduction of the internet, social media, global information and telecommunication systems. These improvements have positively affected the education system as the students can learn from there rooms or in a place that has internet access. Thus making education easy and interesting to the students as it is more interactive compared to the way it was initially (Chinnammai, p.3). Globalization has also resulted to internationalisation of the education system this is where the student can be in a position to learn what is being taught in another region in the world. This is because of the system that is aimed at making the students in the region to be with the same education that is accepted universally. For this reason, the students in the high schools and universities engage in other university transfers thus making them to be diverse in their respective area of specialization. The students know the ways in which the other regions are well and what they experience thus exposing the students to the different environmental settings of the people (Schifferes, par.5). The invention of electronic equipments and good storage facilities has resulted to the improvement of education in the world. This is because the students can be able to reach all the relevant materials that are necessary for their education (Chinnammai, p.2). In that they will be in a position to get the necessary information they need in class as they will be in soft copy and posted by the teacher in the internet. Thus each student will be able to access the information easily without any problem. This will improve the education system as the students will be in a position to pass their final examinations as they will be in a position to deliver in there class works. Therefore, education has also made interesting as a result of globalization. This is because the teaching and standard that are provided by these companies will be improved thus improving education of these groups (Chinnammai, p.4). Globalization has positive and negative effects on business, some of the positive effects is when it provides equal opportunity for companies to advertise their products and thrive in the world market. The improved communication facilities has made it easy for the companies to reach their respective customers world wide; thus providing equal room for businesses and other business opportunities to thrive in these regions. Globalization has also resulted to improved quality and production by the companies and this has made the consumer have value for their money ([emailprotected], par.4). This is experienced when the companies that are producing the same products aims at making the best quality of their products than there competitors. For example the mobile phone companies that are mostly competing in making the best products thus make the customers have a wide range of choice when buying a phone (Schifferes, par.2). Globalization has also resulted to the rapid development of the developing countries thus improving the lives of the countries citizens and at the same time reducing the gap between the poor and the rich. For instance in countries like India, Brazil, Thailand, Singapore, Argentina and China among others developing companies, that have turned out to become countries whose economy are rising faster. This is because of the many multinational industries set their base in these countries and in the process these companies and countries mutually benefiting from each other. Thus helping the country economy to grow thus ensuring that the countries economy grow steadily ([emailprotected], par.2). Globalization has resulted to the globalization of the world markets; this is when the producers of the products have shifted their attention in producing products that are suitable for the specific markets. The multinationals will evaluate at the requirements of the people in which it has set its camp. This will make the company check on the likes and dislikes of the people in these regions and from that make products that are well appreciated with the locals. Also the companies get increased returns in the form of there increased sales, an example is when the General Motors GM looks at the likes of the Indian market and from the evaluation the make a vehicle that goes in an Indian name this automatically appealing to the Indian motor vehicle buyers (Tutor2u, par.1). Globalization has also played a leading role in killing of the local industries in the developing countriesThus making it difficult for the companies to survive thus the collapse and cease to survive due to lack of support from its citizens (Schifferes, par.4). Its evident that globalization has also as well resulted to the degradation the natural reserves in the third world countries and this has resulted to reduced economy of the countries and a the same time making the population of the people to be more poorer (Tutor2u, par.2). Globalization has also resulted to the difficulty of the third world companies to take care of there increasing population; this is because the companies products are sold at low costs. This eventually makes the government collect low revenue which is inform of taxes (Tutor2u, par.4). This result to the country resorting to borrowing from the developed worlds and the donors that will help the country sustain itself. As a result, the country becomes imprisoned with debts that it cant relieve itself from; thus making it difficult for these developing countries to benefit from the global trade as they are denied the room of expanding and at the same time they are exploited with the multinational companies. Com225 Assignment
In 3 days, I violated the rules of communications in 3 different situations when messages to welcome myself next to people I did not know were delivered non-verbally. I specifically acted against norms of proxemics. Proxemics is the area of nonverbal communication that focuses on space and distance and a personââ¬â¢s personal space. It is where you evaluate how intimate the relationship of two people interacting. The closer you get the higher the intimacy level the people must have. Day 1: There was a male student sitting by himself on a bench outside of a lecture hall reading Newspaper.à For the most part, there werenââ¬â¢t any other students around and there were two empty benches nearby. I wanted to see his reaction when I sat next to him very closely and looked over his shoulder to check out what he was reading.à While I looked over the article, he slowly turned his head and looked at me then back at the article.à He then laughed a little and asked what I was doing. I smiled and I didnââ¬â¢t say anything and kept looking at his face.à He was trying to avoid eye contacts with me and prepared to leave. I explained to him what I was doing and about my goal to break norms of nonverbal communication to unsuspecting individuals.à He thought it was funny and said that I definitely did make him feel very uncomfortable as well as very confused. Day 2: The next stop on my nonverbal communication norm-breaking project was in the Student Union.à There were two young women eating dinner at a nearby table.à There was an empty table next to them and students eating at other tables around them.à The two women were mid-conversation when I took a seat next to them at their table.à Not saying a word, I simply sat down and waited. Their initial reaction was confused and they stared at each other.à One of the girls pointed to me and opened her eyes wide to her friend as if to ask ââ¬Å"Do you know her?â⬠à When they realized that I was a complete stranger to both of them and just invited myself to sit down and join in their dinner conversation, they started laughing and reacted with a confused ââ¬Å"Hi!â⬠à They stared and waited for a response and then I started laughing with them and explained what was going on and why. The two young women said how awkward they felt when a complete stranger joined them at their table for dinner. Day 3: The next stop on my project was in front of my apartment. There was a girl who was talking on the phone. I tried to stay too close to her and then I pretended to listen to her phone conversation. For the first time, she looked at me and she tried to make a little more distance from me. However, I kept going closer to her and thus invaded her personal area. Finally, she went inside of Starbucks. When we found her inside of the coffee shop, she was still using her phone and she kept ignoring us. After her phone conversation, we explained to her about our nonverbal communication project and asked her a question about her feelings.à She said that it was uncomfortable, and she felt that I was invading her privacy and too close to her personal space. From the both situation, people felt that they were surprised and uncomfortable as well. I knew that I did inappropriate things that we normally wonââ¬â¢t do in our lives. Intimate distance was invaded as I sat very close to the young man on the bench reading the newspaper and casual distance was made awkward as I put myself at this distance with two young women where I welcome myself at their table same as with a girl who I met in front of Starbucks conversing whom I did not know. The young man sitting on the bench and the talking on the phone prepared to leave or left because I think they donââ¬â¢t want anyone invading their privacy, especially a person they donââ¬â¢t know. The girls on the table were quite confused so I think they thought that I am just being friendly with them so they said ââ¬Å"hi.â⬠I think they did what a normal person would do in those situations. While Iââ¬â¢m doing the exercise, Iââ¬â¢ve thought that breaking communicative rules like proxemics could result to sending a wrong message. Like what I did when I welcome myself by sitting on a table where two girls were sitting. They conceived a message that Iââ¬â¢m being friendly to them. But what if, you just have to sit there because there were no other sits available. The interaction would be unhealthy. à à Ã

The articles give a clear view of the sociological imagination by showing what it means to have the sociological imagination, what aspects would lead Mills to believe that Coontz may or may not have the sociological imagination, and lastly, if Coontzs work would or would not be overlooked by an individual lacking the sociological imagination. Understanding the sociological imagination does not come easy for every individual, however, when reading The Promise by Wright Mills, it is very easy to grasp the pieces that make up the main idea. For Instance, Mills (1959) stated, The sociological imagination enables us to grasp history and biography and the relations between the two within society. What Mills really means, is that having the sociological imagination gives one the ability to not only understanding how biography and history have impacted lives within society, but the idea that the two can be easily understood when focusing on every minuscule detail within and between them. He then continues to explain how that is the sociological imaginations promise and main purpose. To give more of an example, Mills (1959) stated, Perhaps the most fruitful distinction with which the sociological imagination works is between the personal troubles of milieu and the public issues of social structure. When referring to the personal troubles, he means the small problems individuals face that are often seen to be blown out of proportion. Meanwhile, when he mentions the public issues, he is truly focusing on the larger problems within society, that individuals often neglect. By looking at Mills evidence as a whole, one can see that the sociological imagination is simply a way of thinking where one is conscious of their own life experiences and those of the other individuals within society. Now having this knowledge, one can determine whether Coontz has or does not have the sociological imagination. Mills would agree that Coontz has the sociological imagination based on her observation of how history has affected teens and their families. For instance, Coontz said, Another problem for parent-child relations is societys expectation that teens abide by rules and habits that grown-ups have abandoned, and that parents ought to be able to make them do so. Coontz was explaining that she understands from a childs perspective that it is hard to live up to societys standards when the rules are not being applied in the household by that parents. This also shows that she fully understands how history has changed the way society sees teens and the change in rules within households. Coontz followed her statement by explaining how different everything the rules are for teens now, then they were for their parents when they were children. She continues on this idea by saying that parents nowadays expect their children to play by the same rules as they had when they were young. However, she explained that when society merely expects a child to understand and live by the old rules when they have grown up knowing the new ones, is pointless. To show that she has the sociological imagination, Coontz also stated, Young people feel that adults are plying them with make-work or asking them to put their lives on hold as they mature. This shows how Coontz understands the events taking place in the lives of others, then just her own. Not only does the content within Coontzs article prove that she has the sociological imagination, but it also makes one curious if those lacking the sociological imagination would overlook her information. Those lacking the sociological imagination would more than likely overlook her content. For instance, this type of individual would more than likely pass up her statement on the behaviors among teenagers that have led to more serious consequences as the behaviors become more of a hazard and risk. They would overlook this information because they would not be able to truly understand it without comparing the lives of these teenagers to their own. Not only that, but also being open to the change that may have occurred throughout the generations. In Coontzs statement, People talk about how kids today are unsupervised, and they are; but in one sense teens are under more surveillance than in the past one can see that those lacking the sociological imagination would not pay attention to the change that has occurred from generation to generation. Therefore, they do not understand why teens do not value the rules that were once highly valued. This is due to the fact that they had been forgotten as time went on and generations changed. When generations change, opportunities change. For example, Coontz stated, Teens today have fewer opportunities than in the past for gradual initiation into productive activities, both at home and in public, and fewer places to demonstrate their autonomy in socially approved ways. It would be extremely easy for a non-sociological imaginative person to disregard this statement, because they would automatically assume that teens have just as many or more opportunities than they had as teens. However, those with the sociological imagination, will only continue to understand the complications teens are facing within society today. The true meaning of having a sociological imagination, aspects that lead Mills to believe that Coontz has the sociological imagination, and reason as to why Coontzs work may or may not be overlooked by an individual lacking the sociological imagination, are all ways that truly give individuals a clear picture of the sociological imagination. The sociological imagination is what gives society the ability to understand and work together to better the world. Without the sociological imagination, the people within this world will only continue to focus on themselves and their problems that lie within.
